Adult Recognition & Annual Meeting

Our Adult Recognition and Annual Meeting are joined together for a full day of appreciating our volunteers and looking back on the previous year of Girl Scouting.

Our 2018 Adult Recognition and Annual Meeting will be on Saturday, April 7 at the Wyndham in Visalia (Located at 9000 W. Airport Drive).

Adult Recognition

Formal adult awards are available to recognize exemplary service of adult Girl Scouts who go above and beyond the expectations of an individual’s volunteer position. Volunteers, girl members, and/or their families may nominate someone for an award.

Adult Award Quick Facts

Nominees:
·         Must be a registered Girl Scout member for the year of nomination
·         Must have attended training for their position

Nominations:
·         Should focus on details of the nominee’s service
·         Should include specific actions and show measurable impact
·         Nominations are reviewed by a committee of volunteers from             across the council
·         All Nominations are due to Council by 5pm on Friday, October 27,             2017 (NO EXCEPTIONS)
·         No late nominations will be accepted

Please do not tell nominee about an award nomination until it is approved by the committee. All awards will be given out at the Annual Meeting on Saturday, April 7, 2018.

Adult Recognition Award Criteria

Leader of the Year

Criteria:

  • Registered Girl Scout adult volunteer for the year of nomination.
  • Service given benefits at least one Troop within Council jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of five continuous years as Troop Leader.
  • Has served as an exemplary role model for girls in demonstrating the Girl Scout Promise and Law and EPIC.
  • Nomination by the girls and parents of the Troop. Six endorsement letters, three of which are from the parents of the Troop.
  • Retention and/or growth of Troop membership.  Troop has maintained Troop size for at least two years.
  • Completion of all required training for position.
  • Participation in Council and/or Service Unit events.
  • Financial reports submitted on time of all five years.
  • Additional service has been performed above Troop Leadership (such as SU Team position, hosted SU event, or served on a Council Committee).
  • Only one Leader of the Year presented each year.
  • Presented at Annual Meeting.

Needed Documentation:

  • Nomination Form and Letter.
  • Six letters of endorsement, three of which are from parents of the Troop.
  • Completion of the Leader of the Year checklist.

Volunteer of Excellence

Criteria:

  • Registered Girl Scout adult volunteer for the year of nomination.
  • Completion of appropriate training for position held.
  • Service performed was beyond expectations for the position to deliver GSLE to girls in any pathway or supported Council goals in one or more of the following areas: Membership Development, Volunteer
  • Support, Program, Leadership and Governance, Fund Development, and Council Support Services.
  • Maximum of three recipients per Service Unit. 
  • Presented at Annual Meeting.

Green Angel Award

Criteria:

  • Registered Girl Scout adult volunteer for the year of nomination.
  • Contributed a unique, innovative or creative service.  Service must be something that has not been done before for Girl Scouts or is so outstanding that no other award is appropriate.
  • Service given benefits at least one Service Unit, not just the Troop.
  • Maximum of three recipients per Service Unit.
  • Presented at Annual Meeting

Daisy Award

Criteria:

  • Registered Girl Scout adult volunteer for the year of nomination.
  • Continued inspiration to girls and adults for at least five adult years within Council jurisdiction.
  • Maximum of three recipients per Service Unit.
  • Presented at Annual Meeting

Family Award

Criteria:

  • Nominated family has at least one active registered Girl Scout adult for the year of nomination.
  • The family supports Girl Scouts with outstanding volunteer service which is beyond normal expectations.
  • Members of the family have provided continuous service for at least five years.
  • Service given benefits two or more Service Units within Council jurisdiction.
  • Presented at Annual Meeting.

Needed Documentation:

  • Nomination Form
  • Two or more letters of endorsement.

Appreciation Pin

Criteria:

  • Registered Girl Scout adult volunteer for the year of nomination.
  • Service performed is above and beyond the expectations for the position held.
  • Significantly contributed to meeting one or more Council goals in membership growth and retention, fund development, or increased community visibility.
  • Service given benefits at least one Service Unit within Council jurisdiction.
  • Presented at Annual Meeting.

Needed Documentation:

  • Nomination Form
  • One letter of endorsement.

Honor Pin

Criteria:

  • Registered Girl Scout adult volunteer for the year of nomination.
  • Service performed is above and beyond the expectations for the position held.
  • Significantly contributed to meeting one or more Council goals in membership growth and retention, fund development, or increased community visibility.
  • Service given benefits two or more Service Units within Council jurisdiction.
  • Presented at Annual Meeting.

  • Nomination Form
  • One letter of endorsement

Criteria:

  • Registered Girl Scout adult volunteer for the year of nomination.
  • Service given benefits the entire Council or Girl Scout organization.
  • Service performed is so significantly above expectations that no other award is appropriate.
  • Presented at Annual Council Award Ceremony.

  • Nomination Form
  • Two or more letters of endorsement

Thanks Badge II

Criteria:

  • Registered Girl Scout adult volunteer for the year of nomination.
  • Previous Thanks Badge award recipient.
  • Continued to provide exemplary service in a leadership role that benefits the entire Council or Girl Scout organization.
  • Service performed is so significantly above expectations that no other award is appropriate.
  • Presented at Annual Meeting.

Needed Documentation:

  • Nomination Form
  • Two or more letters of endorsement

Numeral Guard Pins

Criteria:

  • Numeral Guard pins are awarded for total membership years (girl years plus adult years equals total membership years).
  • Numeral Guard pins are awarded in five year increments: 5, 10, 15, etc.
  • Numeral Guard pins 20 years and above will be awarded at Annual Meeting.
  • Numeral Guard pins are awarded in the year earned (year ends September 30, 2017).

Years of Service Pins

Criteria:

  • Years of Service pins are awarded for number of years of active Adult Volunteer Girl Scout service.
  • Years of Service pins are awarded in five year increments: 5, 10, 15, etc.
  • Years of Service pins 20 years or more will be awarded at Annual Meeting.
  • Years of Service pins are awarded in the year earned (year ends September 30, 2017).
