Gold Award Girl Scouts are invited to apply for the State Center
Community College Foundation Scholarships. Scholarships will be
awarded up to $1,000. The scholarship, if recieved, can be used at the
following community colleges:
Clovis Community College
Fresno City College
Community College Center
Oakhurst Community College
The Girl Scouts’ Gold Award must be focused on agricultural or STEM
areas and benefit the community. The project must be sustainable and
approved by the Gold Award Advisory Committee of the Girl Scouts of
Central California South.
A scholarship award will be presented each year to a Girl Scout Gold
Awardee who enrolls in a community college with the intent of pursuing
a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in AG or STEM Education. The Girl
Scouts’ Gold Award Project must be focused on AG or STEM areas and
benefit the community. The project must be sustainable and approved
by the Gold Award Advisory Committee of the Girl Scouts of Central
Scholarship is awarded for one year, but student may apply each year
of their education.
Student must be registered or register as a full-time student in one
of the accredited community college listed above within three months
of receiving the scholarship.
Student must have a high school or college GPA of 3.0 or above.
Student must submit a Summary Statement of Intent to complete their
degree in AG or STEM and why they have chosen AG or STEM as their
Student must provide two letters of recommendation that support their
intent to study AG or STEM. (This letter may come from a high school
counselor, teachers or professors, Girl Scout project mentor.)
Participate in an interview with Girl Scout CEO, endowment funder (s)
or designee (s) and Girl Scout Board of Directors Chair.
A Gold Awardee may apply up to five years after earning the Gold Award.
Applications will be due on or before January 30, 2018. Final Gold
Award projects must be approved prior to Scholarship
Application date. Finalists will be notified by February 20, 2018.
Interviews will be conducted on or before March 12, 2018. Selection
of the recipient will be on or before March 30, 2018. Scholarship
will be given to the selected recipient at the Gold Award Luncheon
that will be held the second Saturday of May each year.
If awarded the scholarship, the funds will be deposited directly into
the students account at the community college they are/will be attending.
After completion of their scholarship year, student must submit a
summary of their achievements during that scholarship year to Girl
Scouts of Central California South’s CEO.
