Kids grabbed their helmets, bikes, and bottles of water, and went to the Bike Safety Rodeo! Girl Scout Senior, Erica, hosted a Bike Safety Rodeo on Tuesday July 31, 2012 from 9:00AM – 12:00 PM at Buttonwillow Park & Recreation. There were games, safety tips, and obstacle courses. Best of all – the event was free to attend!
Erica is a Senior Girl Scout at Girl Scouts of Central California South. The Bike Safety Rodeo was an event she is putting on for her Gold Award project. The Gold Award focuses on the interests of older Girl Scouts (grades 9 – 12) and their personal journey to build leadership skills, explore future careers, and advocate for others. The girls research a community issue, develop a plan, and work towards inspiring others to take action in resolving the identified issue.
Though it has changed names over the years, the Girl Scout Gold Award has been the organization’s highest award since 1916. It represents excellence and leadership for girls everywhere!
