Troop 437 was working on their  Cadette GS Way badge, and they were to honor a Girl Scout volunteer. Troop 437 does not  know Christie personally, but she serves us indirectly through her SU Product chair position. To get to know her, each Girl Scout from Troop 437 did a phone interview with at least one person who knows Christie. Most of the information came from her co-leader, parents, and our SU Manager  Melody Roberson. They compiled the information into a program to honor “Queen Christie”. They also adorned her with queen-like props made out of cookie boxes.

To (kindly) ambush Christie, we showed up early to her normal meeting place and time and hid behind the stage with the help of Sandra Renfro. My girls waited in near darkness for her to arrive. A repeated comment about Christie in the interviews was that she has a great laugh. We kept waiting…and then…there was the laugh! We knew she had arrived, and Sandra told us it was time to take our places. It was a fun surprise.

amazing, funny, considerate, dedicated, friendly, awesome, fun, sincere, good to be around, intelligent, organized, generous, enthusiastic, caring and inspiring.

These bracelets represent her ability to know what girls’ needs are,  how to encourage them and how to adjust to every girl’s needs.

This necklace represents her devotion to scouting.

This scepter represtents her infectious and unforgettable laugh.

These glasses represent her helpfulness to all Girl Scouts.

This crown is to show how grateful and overjoyed everyone is to have her in Girl Scouts. “

Thanks for helping to extend the honor of Queen Christie Day! It is a well deserved position for an outstanding volunteer who is a splash of sunshine, kindness, and laughter in our SU and in her troop.
