Fresno, CALIFORNIA – Girl Scouts of Central California South (GSCCS) is excited to announce the premiere event of this year’s holiday season: the New Year’s Eve Gala, Toasting the Future of Girl Scouts. This brand-new, 21 and over-only event will be an unforgettable night of celebration, featuring a cocktail hour with live music from the Joe Lenigan Band, a dance floor with a live DJ, casino tables, a silent and live auction, and a midnight toast countdown, all benefiting Central California’s premier girls’ leadership development organization. This black-tie affair is set to take place on December 31, 2023 at the Hilton DoubleTree in Fresno.
An exciting focal point of the evening's celebration will be the first-ever, GSCCS Woman of the Year Award. In an Oscars’ style award ceremony, nominees will be recognized for their inspiring contribution to the community and the advancement of female leadership, as one outstanding candidate will be announced as the 2023 Woman of the Year.
“This gala will truly be one-of-a-kind. As we bring the thrilling and iconic New Year’s Eve celebrations of Las Vegas and New York City to Fresno, we are also coming together to create a brighter future for the girls of the Central Valley,” remarked GSCCS CEO, Dr. Russel Statham. “I can’t wait to see our community show up and show out as we recognize the importance of female leadership and raise funds so that every girl in every zip code in our area has access to leadership building opportunities in 2024.”
This is a unique opportunity for the Fresno community to celebrate New Year’s Eve in style while benefitting a good cause. All proceeds from this event will go towards financial aid funds for underserved communities that power girl participation, the development of new programmatic spaces for girls across Central California, and operating costs to develop hands-on programming, facilitate events, and support volunteers as they mentor, empower, and inspire.
“I started off through the Girl Scout Connect program and was fortunate enough to become a part of the Girl Scout community. After being in the Connect program for a year, I transitioned to a traditional troop. I’ve been in that troop for 11 years now,” said Ambassador Girl Scout, Makayla R. “Girl Scouts has taught me to take life’s experiences and continue to move forward no matter what. Girl Scouts has offered me a community, friends, and a family. It afforded me opportunities I could have never imagined.”
