Our dynamic leaders and their dedication are key in helping Girl Scouts discover their full potential. Girl Scouts of Central California South is led by the chief executive officer, a board of directors, professional staff members, and volunteers. The board is composed of members from an array of professional backgrounds from throughout the Central Valley; they are vital in guiding our organization into the future.
The Board of Directors of Girl Scouts of Central California South consists of a diverse group of volunteers who are community leaders and professionals. They ensure that the Girl Scout mission is carried out in Fresno, Kern, Madera, Kings and Tulare counties. Board members are selected for their commitment to improving the lives of girls as well as their leadership, volunteer and nonprofit experience, ability to make financial contributions to Girl Scouts, professional and educational background, and knowledge of the community. They are chosen by the Board Development Committee and elected by the voting members of the Council.
The role of the Board of Directors is one of governance. Their responsibilities include strategic planning, fund development, appointment of the CEO, financial oversight, and interaction with the community.
Meet Our CEO
Dr. Russel Statham is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Girl Scouts of Central California South, a council that serves nearly 9,000 girls across five counties in the Central Valley of California.
Dr. Statham’s passion for empowering and developing girls stems from his deep belief in the transformative impact of female leadership, a view that was shaped by his own experience being the beneficiary of mentorship from female executives in higher education and non-profit leadership. Passionate about “paying it forward” and being an advocate for girls and women, Dr. Statham is focused on leading a dedicated team of staff and 3,000+ volunteers to expand Girl Scouting in the Central Valley by providing leadership development programs for girls that cultivate the next generation of female leaders..
