The Marvin and Tish Meyers Agricultural Endowment Scholarship shall be awarded to one or more Gold Awardees each year who are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agriculture at an accredited college or university
The amount of the scholarship(s) each year will be at least $5,000 in total. The scholarship(s) shall be paid from the earnings on the endowment fund as determined by their fair market value as of December 31st of each year. Disbursement of the funds will take place June 1st of each year. In the event that the available earnings of the fund are less than $5,000, the shortfall will be made up by the council’s unrestricted operating budget.
The recipient of the scholarship(s) must:
a. Apply for the scholarship within five years after completing her Gold Award or Senior Year in High School (whichever comes later);
b. Be a registered girl or adult member of Girl Scouts of Central California South at the time of applying for the scholarship and while receiving the scholarship;
c. Have a declared major in the field of Agriculture;
d. Submit a statement as to why they have chosen Agriculture as their future career;
e. Provide two letters of recommendation that support their intent to study Agriculture. (This letter may come from FFA mentor, high school counselor, agriculture teachers or professors, or a Girl Scout project mentor.)
f. Demonstrate financial need for scholarship assistance;
g. Attend a two-year or four-year college or university; and
h. Use funding for tuition, books, supplies, or projects related to coursework.
As a condition of receiving the scholarship(s), each recipient shall write a brief summary of how the scholarship assisted them, attend the Highest Awards Ceremony, and submit a photo, video, and written testimonial of the impact of the scholarship on their life and career to be used for promotional purposes.
If awarded the scholarship, the funds will be deposited directly into the student’s account at the college or university they are/will be attending.
After completion of their scholarship year, the student(s) must submit a summary of their achievements during that scholarship year to the CEO of Girl Scouts of Central California South.
